Top Tips:

None of these family friendly beaches are so-called ‘hidden gems’ (spoiler: there are very few of those left, despite what Instagram tells you), so in the summer months, you’ll want an early start to find parking and a prime seaside spot. Alternatively, we often have luck arriving around 2pm when some families pack up for lunch, or heading down later at 4 or 5pm for the glorious evening hours until sunset.

Which Beach is Best for Your Family Day Out?

For soft sand and toddler-friendly water, try Playa de Muro, Cala Mondragó, or Es Trenc – shallow shores, gentle waves, and no rocks.

For convenience and full facilities, head to Port de Sóller, Playa de Muro, or Portals Nous – all offer lifeguards, cafés, sunbeds, and relatively easy parking.

For beach hopping and calm coves, base yourself in the southeast and explore Cala Mondragó, Cala Santanyi, and Cala Llombards – perfect for a week of turquoise dips and pine-shaded picnics.

For nature and unspoilt beauty, make time for Cala Mondragó (in a protected natural park) or the forest-backed Cala Agulla.

For cliff-jumping kids and rocky edges, Cala Llombards and Cala Santanyi offer low ledges, clear water, and just enough thrill to keep adventurous swimmers happy.

For easy beach days close to Palma, head to Illetes or Portals Nous – both offer calm water, sunbeds, lifeguards, and beachside dining, with bonus comforts like showers and waiter service at Balneario Beach Club.
