🗓️ Nov 22
⏰ 19h
📍Plaça d’Espanya | Palma
Palma’s festive lights switch-on is a spectacular start to the season, with live music and street performances leading up to the traditional countdown that sees the city centre turn into a sparkling winter wonderland.
This year, for the first time, Palma’s Christmas lights Event will take place at Plaça d’Espanya with a 35 minute show beginning at 19h. Organisers say the event has been redesigned to accommodate better visibility and safer crowd flow, but is likely to be very busy regardless. Families with younger children may prefer to watch the lights switch on from a smaller square elsewhere in the city.
In total, more than 3,350 lights and over 600 kilometres of decorations are going up this year, so the city will feel sparkly and festive from every angle.

Mallorca’s Belenes (or Betlems in Catalan) pop up everywhere in December, from churches to shop windows and busy squares. They make an easy festive wander with kids, full of tiny details and local tradition.
We’ve mapped out a family friendly route of our favourite stops, from Cort to La Misericòrdia and Sant Antoniet. Read about it here or discover the official list of Palma’s Belenes for 2025 here.

One of Palma’s most magical nativity displays, the Betlem Vivant, brings La Misericòrdia gardens to life with actors, traditional scenes and a festive farmyard atmosphere! A Seasonal highlight.
