Family-Friendly Vibe
Set in Mongrago National Park in the southeast, Cala Mondragó (official name - Sa Font de n’Alis) stretches 75 metres, and is surrounded by pine trees and rocky landscapes. The sand is soft and white, and the water crystal clear. When the beach gets busy, a scenic seaside walkway to the right of the beach leads you 400m to the larger Cala S'Amarador. Both spots are known for their tranquility, making them ideal for families. With Blue Flag status, Cala Mondragó is clean and safe with a lifeguard on duty throughout high season.
Beach Basics
There are a limited number of sunloungers and umbrellas for rent along with seasonal cabin toilets above the beach. There is no beach shower. The sand is soft and white and the beach has a seasonal lifeguard.
Family Fun
The clear waters are great for snorkelling, and paddle boats offer an alternative bit of fun. Alternatively, enjoy the stroll between bays or one of the self-guided tours of Mondrgao Natural Park.
Refuel
For a break from the sun, the restaurant, Sa Font de n'Alis, (open mid season - usually April) is set at the back of the beach and sells everything from snacks to traditional Mallorcan meals. There is also a small hotel on the bay, and a new beach chiringuito is set to open late 2024. Nearby Cala S'Amarador has its own small chiringuito with snacks, sandwiches and drinks at the back of the beach.
Access
Easy to reach by car but the carpark fills up early in summer and is a 7min stroll up the lane from the beach itself. Parking fees are payable (card payment is fine) on entry to the carpark. If you are arriving early with kids, you may be able to be dropped closer to the beach and then the driver return to the carpark. There is also a TIB bus service from Portopetro / Cala d'Or dropping directly on the beach.
