The Caves of Genova are a hidden gem in Palma, offering a fun alternative for families or anyone looking to explore something different. Discovered by accident in 1906, these caves are a natural wonder, filled with stunning stalactites and stalagmites that have been formed over thousands of years.
Visiting the Caves of Genova is like stepping into another world. Smaller but no less beautiful than other caves on the island, you'll go on a guided tour that takes you 35 metres underground through a maze of hallways where you'll see beautiful stalagmites and stalactites and learn about how the caves were formed. The guides are really knowledgeable and make the history of the caves fun and interesting for everyone.
The tour isn't too long, which makes it perfect for kids or anyone who doesn't want to spend all day walking around. Plus, the inside of the caves stays cool, offering a nice break from the heat if you're visiting in the summer.
After exploring the caves, you can grab something to eat at the restaurant right there. They serve up some tasty local dishes that'll give you a real taste of the island.
The Caves of Genova are easy to get to and not too far from the center of Palma. They're a bit of a hidden spot, so they're not as crowded as some other tourist attractions, which makes for a nice, relaxed visit.
Remember to wear comfortable shoes because you'll be walking on uneven ground, and the caves can be a bit damp. The caves are a cool spot (literally!) to check out, offering a bit of adventure and a chance to see something really different during your trip.
