Family Friendly Vibe
Just 10 minutes west of Palma, Cala Major is a popular but perfectly formed beach backed by several hotels and plenty of restaurants. The beach is split into two with a breakwater in between, and has been awarded a Blue Flag its cleanliness and safety making it great for families local to Palma. The sand is fine, the water clear and a lifeguard on duty, but it does get very busy in the summer months.
Beach Basics
You can rent sun loungers with umbrellas and find beach showers and toilets.
Family Fun
The beach is great for kids and adults alike. On the far right hand side of the beach there is a sheltered shallow part of the shore perfect for toddlers to paddle. Kokomo Surf Café doubles up as a watersports centre providing kayak and SUP hire.
Refuel
Cala Major has a few great eateries both on the sand and just behind the beach on the main road. Kokomo cafe is a favourite throughout the day and evening with surfboard tables and a great menu. Right next to the beach, there is a small supermarket where you can buy drinks, snacks etc.
Access
There is a car park off the main road behind the beach but but does fill up quickly in high season, as does the on-street parking. Access by bus is very easy with the TIB and EMT buses regularly passing through from and to Palma. The beach is easily accessible with children and pushchairs with ramps, wooden boardwalks and step free access.
