Family Friendly Vibe
An easy 1km stroll south from Portocolom, Cala Marçal is a spacious cove, approximately 500 meters deep and 90 meters wide, with crystalline waters and plenty of room for families to spread out. The Blue Flag beach has fine, golden sand that’s perfect for building sandcastles and lounging. Lifeguards are on duty in high season and the waters are shallow and calm, protected by low cliffs walls. It does get busy but there are plenty of beachside dining options (do reserve if you want a sea view!)
Beach Basics
Paid sunbeds and parasols are available but fill up daily in the summer months. There are showers and toilets, plus handy safe boxes on the paid parasols so you're all set for a full day at the beach.
Family Fun
The beach is great for kids and adults alike, with plenty of space for beach games - there are volley ball sand courts at the back - and swimming. Snorkelling is the star activity here, thanks to the clear waters and vibrant marine life. It's a peaceful spot without the buzz of motor water sports rentals, but you will find SUPs and the all important pedalo boat.
Refuel
Shady food and drink options here are good, and varied. Set back on the sand Chiringuito Cala Marcal is great for snacks and long lunches. Just above the beach, the Organic Restaurant serves up delicious, generous meals and Kaikuna just before it is another popular option. All have super sea views and offer a breezy break from the rays.
Access
Parking near Cala Marçal can get busy, but it's manageable. The beach is accessible for strollers with the exception of a short flight of steps on either side.. Public transport options include buses from nearby towns like Portocolom, providing an easy, eco-friendly way to reach the beach.
