Who - Approximately 50 students aged 16-18 years old, studying in small classes of maximum 10 pupils. Pupils must have a high level of written and spoken English.
What - Palma College is the only dedicated international sixth form college in the Balearics specialising in the education of students in their sixteenth year and older. AS and A2 Level qualifications from the British Edexcel Examination Board are offered along with Pearson Level 3 certificate to extended diploma qualifications for Sport. These are equivalent to A Levels and are based on assignments.
Why - We offer a coherent, flexible and enriched curriculum. The traditional AS/A Level courses are only part of the picture for our Sixth Formers. There is also a programme of sport, PHSE (Personal, Health, Social and Economic education), and a comprehensive enrichment programme.
In general lower sixth students take 4 AS Level subjects. Timetabled teaching hours are five and a half hours per week per subject, plus a 15 minute “one to one” meeting per subject with their academic tutor. In the upper sixth most students concentrate on three A2 Level subjects with seven hours of teaching per subject per week, plus personal tutorials and continued one to one meetings.
There is a real supportive community feel to the College. Where student can study, learn and mature with the help of experienced staff.
Palma College is situated in the heart of Palma with easy access from cars, buses and trains. It is close to galleries, exhibitions, theatres and is only 20 minutes from the airport.
