S’Albufera Natural Park is the largest wetland area in the Balearic Islands, covering 1,646.48 hectares. This well-preserved park is ideal for families interested in exploring the native fauna and flora, or just looking for a peaceful traffic free cycle route or nature walk.
The park, declared a natural reserve in 1988, attracts bird watchers, nature lovers and photographers with its diverse bird species. Four trails are available for self-guided exploration (2 of which are suitable for cyclists), offering various durations from 30 minutes to over 3 hours.
Access to the park is on foot or by bicycle through the English Bridge, with a small parking lot near the entrance for those arriving by car. There is also a bus stop nearby on the main road. Entry is free, but a visit permit is required, obtainable at the Sa Roca reception center (arrive by 4pm). The park extends opening hours until 6pm between April to October.
Family Friendly Top Tips:
- There is no cafe or playground within the park so bring your own drinks and snacks.
- While the trails are flat, the summer sun is un-relentless so make sure to bring sun protection and water
- Insect repellent! Especially if early Autumn.
