Halloween in Mallorca brings plenty of frightening fun, but the island’s own version of supernatural celebration runs much deeper. While trick or treating, school parties and fancy-dress events grow more popular each year, the roots of the Balearic spooky season lie in Nit de les Ànimes – or Night of the Souls.
Nit de les Ànimes is an island tradition centred on remembrance – families light candles, visit cemeteries and share sweet treats in honour of loved ones. The vigil begins on 31 October and continues through Tots Sants (All Saints’ Day, 1 November) and Tots els Difunts (All Souls’ Day, 2 November), blending reflection with gentle festivity in unique Mallorcan style.
In the past, candles were often placed inside bottles or seasonal fruits, pumpkins too, and set by the door, in the kitchen or on windowsills to help guide the souls home. Nowadays, Tots Sants on 1 November is still marked with family visits and traditional sweets such as panellets (sweet almond marzipan balls), bunyols (fritters) and rosari ensucrat, a sugar rosary made with candied fruits, sweets and trinkets. Many bakeries continue to make and sell these colourful creations in the days around All Saints’ Day – look out for them hanging in windows.

Today, timeless island traditions sit happily alongside evil-looking pumpkins, scary scenes and deathly costumes, giving Mallorca its own special blend of culture and family fun for Halloween.
Whether you’re looking to experience local Nit de les Ànimes traditions with lantern and rosari making, or in search of some classic spooky fun, there’s plenty happening for families across the island. Here’s our round-up of Halloween events for 2025.
Experience Halloween the island way by joining local festivities organised by town halls across Mallorca. Most villages and towns plan activities for children, from rosary workshops and lantern-making to terror tunnels and face painting. In Palma, Parc de Sa Riera usually hosts a full line-up with storytelling, live music and kids’ shows.
We’ll be sharing more local event programs over on Instagram – look for our Halloween weekend round-up. We’ve heard Alcúdia Old Town is especially good fun for families.

A not-so-traditional, but much-loved island highlight is a visit to the Casa de Bitelchus (Home of Beetlejuice) in Palmanyola – easily Mallorca’s most decorated Halloween home. Each year, local couple Cristina and Paco transform their garden into a full-scale Halloween spectacle. It’s free to visit, packed with (very) spooky surprises, and a favourite early evening stop for families.

Take note, some of the displays are truly terrifying with jump scares that may not be suitable for young children or those prone to nightmares.
La Casa de Bitelchus
🗓️ 30 Oct – 2 Nov
⏰ From 18h (until 22h or later)
📍 Avenida de Sóller 48-B, Palmanyola
🎟️ Free entry – voluntary donations welcome (you may have to queue to enter)
If you’re after some US-inspired door-knocking fun, you’ll find it here too, but it’s not common and you need to know where to go. The towns of Esporles and Sóller are known for family-friendly ‘truco o trato’ routes, with some residents decorating houses and handing out sweets. Around Palma, the neighbourhoods of Son Dureta and El Toro (southwest), both draw small crowds of sugar-searching school kids. As is customary elsewhere in the world – but especially important in Mallorca – only knock on doors with spooky decorations to invite you in.
From theme park scares days to spooky sleepovers, many of Mallorca’s Halloween events are ticketed. Some need to be booked in advance, while others you can join on the day. Checking the organiser’s website linked below for the latest timings and booking info.
