🗓️ Nov 22
⏰ 19h
📍Plaça d’Espanya | Palma
Palma’s festive lights switch-on is a spectacular start to the season, with live music and street performances leading up to the traditional countdown that sees the city centre turn into a sparkling winter wonderland.
This year, for the first time, Palma’s Christmas lights Event will take place at Plaça d’Espanya with a 35 minute show beginning at 19h. Organisers say the event has been redesigned to accommodate better visibility and safer crowd flow, but is likely to be very busy regardless. Families with younger children may prefer to watch the lights switch on from a smaller square elsewhere in the city.
In total, more than 3,350 lights and over 600 kilometres of decorations are going up this year, so the city will feel sparkly and festive from every angle.

Mallorca’s Belenes (Nativity Scenes) pop up across the island in churches, shopping areas and public spaces. The traditional Belén de Cort opens on Friday 21 November, along with the Royal Letterbox, ready for little ones to start posting their wishes to the Three Kings.
If you’re planning a festive wander, here are just some of the charming Belenes to visit:
Belén de Cort – Ajuntament de Palma
🗓️ 22 November to 5 January 2026
⏰ Weekdays: 9.00–20.30, Saturdays, Sundays, bank holidays: 10.00–20.00
The city’s official nativity and always one of the most detailed. It’s large, beautifully lit and right in the old town so it’s easy to pair with the lights trail. Great for kids because it’s outdoors, quick to view and full of tiny scenes to spot.
Belén de la Misericòrdia – Centre Cultural La Misericòrdia
🗓️ 7 December to 5 January
⏰ Daily: 10.00–21.00, 24 & 31 December: 10.00–14.00, Closed: 25 & 26 December, 1 January
One of the island’s biggest and most intricate displays. Mallorca’s historic landscapes, villages and trades are recreated with a lot of care. Families usually linger because there’s so much movement, detail and storytelling. This is the one that feels most like a full exhibition.
Exposició de Diorames Nadalencs – Centre Cultural La Misericòrdia
🗓️ 8 December to 5 January
⏰ Daily: 10.00–21.00, 24 & 31 December: 10.00–14.00, Closed: 25 & 26 December, 1 January
Not a single Belén but a curated collection of miniature scenes, crafted like little theatre sets. It’s quieter, indoors and feels more like an art installation. Kids love the tiny-scale details and adults appreciate the craftsmanship.
Belén del Centre d’Història Militar de Palma
🗓️ 10 December to 4 January
⏰ 10.30–13.30 and 18.00–20.00
A hidden favourite for families: five traditional nativity scenes plus more than 1,200 international Belenes from around the world. A brilliant stop for older kids who love collections or anything unusual.
Belén Monumental de Sant Antoniet – BBVA
🗓️ 1 December to 7 January

🗓️ 25 November to 6 January
⏰ Monday–Friday: 10.00–18.00, Saturdays: 10.00–12.00 and 13.30–18.00
