Mallorca in November with Kids: What’s On, Weather & Where to Stay

1st November 2026

Sweet November. Everyone’s back at school, the streets are noticeably quieter, and the island feels calmer, greener and ready to be rediscovered after a long summer on the sand.

The visitors who do come are mostly walkers and cyclists, and with good reason. November is one of the wetter months, but there are still plenty of sunny days for getting outdoors. It’s the time to head into the mountains, or to visit the places you’d skip in summer for the crowds: Sa Calobra, Formentor, and villages like Valldemossa and Santanyí, which are suddenly peaceful and perfect for a wander.

There are autumn fairs most weekends to get you out exploring the island, and towards the end of the month, Christmas arrives: Palma switches on its lights and festive markets begin.

What’s the weather like in Mallorca in November?

November is mild rather than warm, with daytime highs of around 19°C and much cooler evenings. There are a few rainy – around six on average – days, but normally plenty of sunshine in-between.

Is the sea warm enough to swim? Local families would say ‘definitely not’! But on a sunny day, especially after a hike, a quick dip is still a fun way to cool off, as long as you have some warm clothes for the kids to pull on quickly after. The sea averages around 20°C, so keep it splashy or short. Unheated pools are cold by now, and many villas with heated pools are closing them for the winter.

Holiday planning tips

  • Mosquitoes can still be a nuisance early in the month, but they disappear as the heat goes.
  • Plan your outdoor days a day or two ahead, when forecast is more reliable, and always have an indoor plan ready. Our rainy day guide has plenty.

What to pack for November? Layers: T-shirts for sunny middays, plus jumpers and a warm jacket for the evenings. Add a light waterproof, trainers or walking shoes with grip, and swimwear with a towel and something warm if you’re hoping for a dip in the sea. For anything more than splashing around, you’ll want to pack wetsuits.

Is November a good time to visit Mallorca with kids?

If you’re travelling with pre-schoolers, or can get away outside the school holidays, November can be a lovely time to visit, as long as you’re not relying on daily sunshine. It suits families who come for the villages, a city stay, culture and the outdoors more than pools and beach clubs. If you want to really discover the island, it’s a far easier time to do it than the busy months from May to October.

November works well for:

  • Families who walk, cycle and explore, particularly children and teenagers who’ll enjoy a proper hike or smaller ones who ride along in a carrier.
  • Babies and toddlers: seaside walks with a pushchair are far easier on quiet promenades, and road trips to Sa Calobra and Formentor, places most families skip in summer, are cooler and calmer. More in our Mallorca with toddlers and babies guide.
  • Anyone who wants Palma, the villages and good restaurants without the queues
  • A late-month festive trip to see the Christmas lights go on.

It’s less suited to you if:

  • Sunny beach days are on the daily must-do list.
  • You have a hit list of restaurants you’ve heard about it – many of those in seaside resorts and even some town, will have closed already for the winter.
  • You need a kids’ club, a water park or summer attractions, all of which have closed for winter.

Things to do with kids in Mallorca in November

November’s good days are ideal for being outside exploring the mountains. Keep Palma and the indoor options for the grey or chillier ones.

Outdoors

  • Family hikes: the heat has gone and the hiking months begin. Seaside routes are often still best though, with a chilly splash stop-off and an ice cream at the end.
  • Sa Calobra and Formentor: two drives most families skip in summer for the crowds. Formentor’s car restrictions have ended, so you can drive out to the lighthouse again. The road down to Sa Calobra is a long run of hairpins and far quieter now. Mind the cyclists though!
  • Cycling: cool days and quiet roads make November good for bikes. The Via Verde and Albufera routes are flat and easy with children, or Port de Pollença, Cala Millor, Palmanova or Palma are great for easy seaside cycles.

Indoors and culture

  • Palma: the cathedral, museums, cafés and shops, all open, and the Christmas lights from 21 November. Palma with kids →
  • MUCBO, Sóller: a small natural science museum packed with curiosities: fossils, Tramuntana geology and preserved animals. The showstopper is the world’s oldest mammal ancestor, discovered in Mallorca in 2024. Discover →
  • The caves: a good plan for a wet day. Go early, as everyone else has the same idea.

Day trips: Santanyí, Valldemossa and Sóller

The villages and towns that are hard work in summer are easy in November. Many of the restaurants are still open, but the streets are calm. Go for brunch, lunch, and a wander in a pretty Tramuntana town or discover inland villages on their market day.

  • Santanyí: the village, its shops and cafés, with the southern coves a short drive away.
  • Valldemossa: a short drive from Palma, up in the mountains.
  • Sóller: the town and the port, with walks in every direction.

What’s open (and what’s not) in November

Mallorca doesn’t close in November, but it does get much quieter.

  • Hotels: most resort and holiday hotels close at the end of October or during November and reopen in spring. Palma has the widest choice all year.
  • Restaurants: in Palma, the towns and the villages, many stay open. In the beach resorts, the majority close until spring.
  • Water parks: closed for winter.
  • Tren de Sóller: the train closes for winter maintenance for 4-6 weeks, check the dates online.
  • Boat trips: most charters are closed for winter, as are ferry services to the islets. The Sa Calobra ferry still runs a limited service through the month.
